The Department of Machine Elements and Tribology
The Department of Machine Elements and Tribology is one of the departments belonging to the Faculty of Machine Building that has played an important role in the development of the university, the research and education of would-be engineers.
The main objectives of the teaching staff consist in the education and training of the undergraduates in view of developing mechanical engineering skills necessary in the design and construction of parts and tools, equipment and machines to be made use of in industry or related fields.
The engineer that designs different types of machines, equipment, installation, devices or new technological processes combines in its creating activity science and art. The main feature of this work consists in the fact that the studies made in the science and art field is done so that they can be efficiently used in the domain of a practical finaliseng.
The process of engineering creation usually starts with the understanding of the need to realise / create a new product or a technological process. The solution found for satisfying the need has to be presented in a way that it can be realised within the considerations of the production process.
The department is also part of the large group of researchers in the university. The main fields of interest in this respect are 18 members: 16 members in the Teaching Staff and 2 are technical and administrative staff.
